yea, like Sea Splash and the beach vibe but thinking I would try the cliffs (Xtabi). While at Xtabi did you stay ocean side and if so, which cottage?

Just got back from staying 9 nights at Xtabi. It was wonderful. It's rustic, yet beautiful. The staff is amazing, they all go out of their way to help with any request. The food is good and 3 Dives jerk (yum!) is next door. We met great people at the resort, the people were almost all returnees and very happy staying at Xtabi time after time. We had riotous parties in the bar, great snorkling right off the cliffs and walked all over the west end and into town with no problems mon. I would highly recommend it. If you need air conditioning stay on the garden side. We were warm at night for a little bit, then the breeze kicked up and we had to turn off the fan as it was too cool with it.

Bjritz - what cottage were you in? I've booked #4 for mid April. I was wondering how hot it might get in the upper bedroom. Are there opening windows upstairs?

I stayed in #8, the upper one in the over under duplex behind #6. I met the couple in #4 while I was there and they said it was a bit hot even with the monster fan upstairs. Their solution was to put their heads at the foot of the bed which got them right under the fan air flow. #8 has more windows for cross ventilation and we left the shower door open for more.

It cools off at night. It was warm during the day. But a jump in the sea cured that!

Hmmmm, I thought being right on the water would cool it off more, but wondered about the heat rising and hanging in the bedroom. I'm going with a friend and not sure what she'll think of the no air, I wouldn't be so worried for myself, but the #4 couple you mentioned having to sleep at the other end of the bed....one of us will sleep downstairs as I was told they would bring in a single. I really would want to stay Seaside, not gardenside, want that non-stop view. I wonder if it would be any cooler in April vs May (you mentioned you JUST got back?)?

I went with a friend who slept on the bed they brought up to our room and he said it was quite comfortable. It may be cooler on the first floor and I don't think the temp diff between April and May would be all that much. The couple I met were not in anyway disappointed with the room. Just mentioned it was warmer upstairs. I know those big fans help. The only thing up there is the bed and bath.

Sliding to the rail puts you right under the big fan, not shown in pic....stolen from Negril One Stop.

The security at Xtabi is great, you could leave your door open and be just fine...but ask Natasha about it. She is the one who responds to the contact emails from the Xtabi website. She is so nice and accomadating she would let you know if you need more info.
