How deep is the water at Xtabi? Waist deep is fine for her to get in... And then deeper is fine. And the bottom? looks like sadn with rocks mixed. Ok to go barefoot or do you have to watch for sharp objects?
Entering from the cave, it will be shallow (depending on the tide) then gradually deeper. Off the ladder, I'm guessing about 8 feet or so (but this is only a guess). If it were me, I wouldn't go in barefoot. Sea urchins, etc could present a painful problem. I would recommend either water shoes or snorkel gear. Xtabi is truly a nice place to snorkel and the rooms on the garden side are really reasonable. Rockhouse is also a great, easy place to snorkel or enter the water just to swim. However, it is more $$$. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Either way, I have no doubt you guys are going to have a ball. Enjoy!!!
Was in lost beach last november. We were there about a week after a storm, and the beach was covered up
with trash. Went right by the resort and it looked deserted. I wont even swear that it was open. There were no
tourists visible anywhere.
Shared a red stripe with some great local fisherman on the beach.
You may want to do a in depth check on the resort. I found one undated article online that said it was for sale.
The beach would have been great if it wasnt for the large volume of trash (I didnt see trash on any other beachs we visited).
As far as I know Lost Beach is closed
WNYJIM...I would do more research on Lost Beach also. I'm not sure how you found this property or where you heard that it was open. It was in need of repairs for the past few years and I haven't heard that it's been repaired or reopened!
If you are looking for an out of the way place I have heard good things about this guesthouse near Treasure Beach:

I think Half Moon Beach also has cottages for rent and Rhodes Hall looks gorgeous too for an out of the way but seaside place.
