Hi Clarity,
While we have not stayed at Nirvana, we did spend an afternoon there a couple of years ago. Our son made friends with another little boy on the beach, and his family invited us back to Nirvana for his birthday party. The property is really secluded, and shady. Like others have mentioned, the lack of A/C might be an issue for some. The party was mostly held outside in the garden, so it wasn't really an issue for us, but I did notice that when I went inside the cottage, it was quite hot. I am sure it would cool off a lot during the night though. The large screened in porch was nice, and the inside of the cottage although pretty basic and rustic, was very clean. They had a nice sized kitchen, dining table, and living area. Nirvana had arranged for a cook to prepare some meals for them in the cottage, so that seems like a really convenient and afforable option for your family to consider if they choose a night or two to stay in and eat. We got to enjoy some of that food during the party, and it was really good! I am not sure what number cottage they had, but it was set back from the beach on the other side of the garden, closest to the road. The security seemed pretty strict with the higglers, and I noticed they kept them from bothering any guests on the beach. It seems like a very private place to stay, yet still be on the beach. If I remember right, I think there was even a fence separating the beach from the cottages, with a little gate.
That is so sweet of you to help your parents plan this trip. I really hope you and Markus get to join the rest of your family on this special trip!
I have followed your trip reports, and I am so excited for your father to reunite with his Jamaican family after all these years! Just, wow!
