I used the mrsimcard that was linked in a previous post in 2010. It cost a bit more for the sim card but I wanted to have one when I landed. I bought the LIME prepaid SIM. Since then I have recharged it for our next two trips in 2011 & 2012. I did not have to put minutes on it every 30 days to keep it active. I believe this card stays active for 1 year.
The calling rates are not the greatest but then again we don't use that many minutes while there and I don't have to keep buying minutes every 30 days. I make sure I top up online before we go and so far we have been good to go. I will be trying to top off again in ~75 days
