I used the mrsimcard that was linked in a previous post in 2010. It cost a bit more for the sim card but I wanted to have one when I landed. I bought the LIME prepaid SIM. Since then I have recharged it for our next two trips in 2011 & 2012. I did not have to put minutes on it every 30 days to keep it active. I believe this card stays active for 1 year.
The calling rates are not the greatest but then again we don't use that many minutes while there and I don't have to keep buying minutes every 30 days. I make sure I top up online before we go and so far we have been good to go. I will be trying to top off again in ~75 days![]()

I'm sure someone can get a sim card for you in advance. It's only $3.33 USD. Crazy to pay more if you dont have to.

It's in the back end, past the Scotiabank ATM. Our driver was with us and helped get someone over to the Lime counter. Can't beat that price. Sort of sorry I didn't go up to the next level of phone as this one is only dual band and doesn't work at home, so definitely no option of topping up to keep the sim & use up the minutes...but as said, CHEAP and served the purpose well. I only added another $200 j minutes and called home a few times as well as a fair bit of local calls and texting.... Only $1200 j total for a week. Next time I'll be back in business with it for like $5 for new sim and some minutes.
Update edit: I assumed the phone doesn't work now that I'm back in Canada....but turned it on and got a text from "Rogers" thanking me for using their network and "welcome to Canada". I tried texting Jamaica and got a message that it didn't go through as I don't have sufficient credits. I'll have to follow up with Rogers for more info. Anybody else experience this? If I buy Rogers minutes or top up online w/Lime will my sim stay active? I'm going back to Jamaica in 4.5 months.

I've recently received my Lime sim card and put it in the phone. I created a Lime account and added minutes. The RAZR phone seems ready to go. My question is......Will the phone work in the US? It seems to be on a Cingular network. If it does work are the roaming charges crazy expensive? It's not that I need to use the phone....I just want to know what I will be charged if by chance the phone rings :-)
