If you haven't done so already, suggest you check with the airline you will be flying with - they may offer suggestions for obtaining such insurance.
Best wishes to your friend - my 72 y/old brother in law is scheduled for a kidney transplant on Oct 1/12 (his son is the kidney donor); he is currently doing daily peri dialysis at home (thank God for the Canadian Kidney Foundation who fund all costs including the loan of a computerized dialysis machine and all needed supplies). My b-i-l had a heart transplant almost 20 years ago and has done wonderfully well with the heart, but now his kidney's have failed (partly due to the anti rejection drugs he has to take for his heart). I don't know about the US, but in Canada there is a long waiting list for kidneys and it can take many months from the time they are put on the transplant list until their name comes up.
