Well, I've just booked flights using my aeromiles collected, I only had to pay $187.00 (taxes) for a flight from Nanaimo, BC to Negril, Jamaica. Such a sweet deal!! I have been saving my aeromiles for about a year now, I tell ya..........it's worth it!!
So excited now as IT'S REAL. Seastar Inn room booked, flight booked, now I just have to hope to be approved for the vacation leave.

I hope you get approval! Many years ago I booked my first 2 week vacation in Negril before I got approval for the time off. I was bringing 6 friends and had all the flights and rooms booked. When I put in my vacation request I was told no one had ever gotten approval for 2 consecutive weeks and I would need to talk to the owner to get the go ahead. I told him that he needed to understand that I was going no matter what he said and if I needed to find a new job when I got back so be it. He asked me why I would book such a trip before getting the ok and my response was that as I had never in my career been denied vacation time that I had earned, it never occurred to me that he would say no. He said "Oh, well I guess that makes sense..." and signed the approval.

That's exciting! Gotta love getting (almost) free flights! We switched to the Westjet Mastercard for that reason.

I sure hope I get the approval!!! I think it should be okay, I'm not asking for Christmas time off, it's after Christmas and New Years, so all should be good. I don't quite know what I'd do if I was denied, I'd be like you Ras, I'd find a way.

Congratulations Islander!!! I save my miles all year for the flights. We are about $110 total for 2 If it wasn't for those miles

Oh, I know the feeling. I just booked mine too and paid $171 from Ottawa AND it`s a direct flight too - YAHOO.

The normal amount is 40,000 - I don't think it matters where you are but I could be wrong.
