Historic Samuel's Bay National Marine Park is just minutes from Negril, and has five miles of healthy coral reef to explore just steps from the shoreline.

Located at magnificent Rhodes Hall Plantation in Hanover, Samuel's Bay and neighboring Orange Bay both face one of the healthiest coral reef "eco systems" on the northwest coast of the island, including a mangrove swamp, crocodile reserve, lake, bird sanctuary, animal & nature preserve, and one mile of pristine, untouched natural coastline.

Day passes available at the front gate between 8am to 6pm daily. Bring your own snorkeling gear or rent ours for just $5 USD
    Call 1-876-957-6422 for details.

We took advantage of this offer last year and plan to do so again next reach. It made for a very nice day of quiet snorkeling and otherwise relaxing away from the bustle of the beach.

This really interests me and I know my hubby would love to do it. Is it an easy swim out to the reef and safe from boaters/jetskis etc?

There was no boat or watercraft traffic at all the day we were there. I think the "marine park" status prevents that. You can see from the map that the reef is about a thousand feet out from the beach - not far at all when you're wearing fins.
