Day 1: May 6, 2012

The day started out pretty early for me! I could not believe I was in Jamaica!! I quickly got up, dressed and went outside to search my surroundings. The property I stayed on was okay but I hated the fact that the pictures did not match up. For breakfast I just had fruit. I’m not big on meats especially pork so that was good enough for me. Turns out I may have a partner in crime after all…LOL! My good Rastafarian friend Dre or Ras Dre volunteered to show me Negril. He lives in Manchester and makes the most beautiful crafts. He knows he is being made famous, as I speak! Our first stop was Hi-Lo…we loaded up on spring water, a few vegetables but no fruit…we decided to get that at a roadside vendor. Dre is a tall lanky guy with long dreads and me, very short with currrrrvvess! I knew we looked very interesting while walking but I took no notice only my surroundings! We finally make it back to my room but the heat, walking and excitement had me beat…I take a nap. This nap was about 2.5 hours long. I needed it because the night before I arrived and did not get in my room until 10:30pm.

Day 1: May 6, 2012 Part 2
After I awoke and freshened up. Dre and I decided to hit the beach. We walked along, being stopped every now and then by vendors. I’m the type of person that can’t say no, so I did buy a few items. We were offered weed but quickly said no. The same guy who offered us weed went up to a couple from Great Britain and gave them a sob story about his kids being sick…WOW!! The GB couple did not take the bait and he moved on when he saw security. We saw a guy placing table out on the sand, then lighting candles, so we decided to have dinner here. It was called Sun Beach Restaurant & Bar…very romantic. That night there was a live band, they played old school reggae…how cool is that? We both had rice and sautéed vegetables with an iced Mango Drink. As gentlemen should, Dre paid for both of us and escorted me back to my room.<<<End of a long but terrific day!!
