Re: Kind of...
Day 2:
It was another bright and beautiful day for Dre and I to explore Negril. Today he is taking me to the local craft market and duty free shops. We had a light breakfast, talked for an hour or so then walked out to the front of our hotel, to catch a cab. The drive was short, and I quickly took in the sights along the way. We got dropped off at a duty free shop near the bank. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and then followed around. I don’t know about anyone else, but I hate being followed while I shop…I’m the type of girl who likes to pick up things, examine carefully and then make my decision. It got so bad, I was getting irritated. So we left and took a look at the other shops nearby. I decided not to buy anything, so we went to Devon House for ice cream…Dre didn’t have any. He is a rasta…everything he eats is Ital. He was hungry so we went to Juicy Patties, and got 2 vegetable patties. We sat there and ate; this was around 1 and I noticed school children out. Andre explained that some schools have shifts, because of overcrowding. We finished and walked to the Craft market. The market is a bunch of wooden shacks, that people use to sell items. I wanted to stop in everyone but Dre said there was no way that would happen. I stopped in one shop and two local women came in and asked me to go to their shop. I agreed, and then the same thing over. It is annoying but I’m a nice person. I saw no unique pieces, everything was suppose to be handmade but I saw made in China…LOL! I got a couple items from the venders that were less pushy. One lady decided to curse me out, she had nothing I wanted to buy…so I walked away. It was hot and I was tired…walked towards the road to catch a cab and noticed a man selling jelly coconut. Dre and I shared one, it was refreshing. I was going to discard the coconut but Dre said he could eat it.
More to come….
The pictures are from along the way, when we walked from the duty free shops to the craft market. The little River was awesome. We got a chance to see locals actually catching and cleaning fish. They tossed the remains to the birds. Thats my beautiful self in the purple..I usually look better but Dre said there was no need for makeup and such...I agree, be natural, be yourself
