You can see more of the river if you head over by Burger King and stand on the riverbank. It was a nice sight...

I'm Sorry to hear about that sales lady being so pissy with you. Devonhouse icecream is the best though, isn't it? So creamy and delicious
I look forward to hearing more about your experiences in Negril!

    Great trip report so far!

Have you thought of Italian ice? I didn't see any there...it would be a great refreshment to enjoy on the beach or serve to the kids coming from school.

    Day 2: Continued

As soon as we got back to the room,I took a nap and Dre cooked. I did not sleep well at all...I was hot as h*ll, and the fan was blowing hot air around. Dre decided to cook lunch/dinner so we could spend some time at the beach. He made some vegetables that were pretty good, but I could never become a full pledged vegan. We talked about our lives, futures and such. I told him I was upset about being hassled at the market like that. He says most of the time its like that...so He then goes to his luggage and takes out two large bags of crafts. I knew Dre was artistic but he went far beyond my expectations. His crafts were absolutely beautiful! I couldn't believe he (a man) had made them...I offered to buy some from him, but he gave them to me for free. To get him to accept my money, I asked him for a hug, gently as I could tried to stuff it in his back pocket but he snatched it out... Dre is a sweetheart, if you ever got a chance to meet him, you would be amazed! I asked him if it was okay to display a few pictures of his work here and he agreed.

He finished cooking and it was already getting dark out. I wanted to go to the beach and see the sun set...maybe get in the water for a bit. We both got ready...swimsuits, sunglasses and camera. I hadnt brought a swimsuit cover up only shorts. Let me tell you...I did not try these shorts on before buying them. They showed a little bit of everything To get to the beach we had to pass a group of local men...who decided to make catcalls. Dre said a few words to them, which I did not understand...but everytime I wanted to go to the beach from then on everything was irie! We crossed the street and along the way I noticed an old concert stage, it was symbolic in a way. I don't know why, but I felt the need to take a pic of it.

Dre can't swim and his dreadlocks hang almost to his waist...they are neat. So he took a few pics of me in the water. The water was warm, very clear and I saw a few fish swimming near my feet. I got out and we watched the sun start to set...kind of romantic. While sitting there a local rastafarian, selling herbs...not weed but rosemary, thyme and mint asked if we wanted to try the mint. We did and he was about to leave but I stopped him and Dre picked out a few herbs from him to cook with. For another 10mins or so the rasta and Dre talked about farming and their beliefs. Lets just say it was a very interesting conversation. As the sun set we walked back to our room...an end to a lovely day.

I didn't see the interior of the cabins...wish i would have. There was one that peaked my interest and really looked cute from the outside, lol. We met a couple there who were staying in a cabin. No complaints. They were really enjoying it.

The property at Kuyaba is really beautiful. They clean the gardens from top to bottom everyday. One moring I was enjoying life on the balcony and I heard a noise above me. I look up and much to my surprise a gardener was above the building in a tree! And at night, the place sparkles with white christmas lights.... and the tree frogs....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the tree frogs *love*.

There is another boardie by the name of Mr Twister. He has a lot of experience at Kuyaba. Maybe he could answer your questions better than I.

    Carry on, please!

Thanks so much! The pics Ive seen of the place are very nice. I love all the greenery...makes me wonder how they keep it so lush? I know the sun can be harsh but thumbs up to them for working so hard.
