    Now where was I ???

Now that I have a good knowledge of Negril today I am trying to place a memory of my first visit in 1996. I need your help. We were staying at Point Village and took a taxi to the west end. We were walking and stopped at a roadside hut for a drink. There was an older woman at the bar and she was in a Jamaican frame of mind. She gave us a couple of RedStripe but said she had to get theTings for our kids at the house off the road. After half an hour she came back and started talking to us and it was clear she had forgotten why she had left. She was emptyhanded. Now where was this? It was opposite the seaside on the road but there was a barred entrance to caves. It wasn't far from the Pickled Parrot. I also remember swimming in a cave and climbing a ladder from inside and coming out into a bar. /restaurant wherr I danced with my daughter in our swimsuits. Could it have been Joseph's caves. I' m not too familiar with the cliffs and if anyone can fill in the blanks I would appreciate it.

    Dash,

If the cave you went in from the sea was right next to Pickled Parrot back in '96, then this is and still is Joseph Cave Bar. Joseph Cave Bar was on both sides of the road during (prior?) in (to) 1996 so this is probably where you were located at the time. Depending on the sea activity at the time, the Cave Bar (yes, there was a bar in the cave back then) was opened or "barred" to access..

Thanks Rob. I have a few more blanks to fill in but they were caused by Jamaican rum. You can't help there. By the way when people tell me how dangerous Jamaica is I tell them how we got back to Point Village from the cliffs that day. Walking on the road with two small kids a van with no door stopped and offered a ride. There were two Rastas in the van and despite my wife's look we jumped in. On the way one offered my Kids some fruit and we had a great conversation. At the hotel I tried to give them a US5$ but they wouldn't take it. I love Jamaica.
