This of course involves not flashing your cash, not being intoxicated, etc. (I think you are less likely to be a victim of violent crime, than a so-called crime of opportunity). Valuable items like expensive jewelry or cameras should be left at home, alternately would be wise to stay at a place with safekeeping for such items. I think any place described as a resort in Negril would have some form of safekeeping service available.
