First timers in Negril in a couple of weeks...

We're heading to Negril in a couple of weeks to get away for a week; relax, unwind, relax, have some great food and drinks. We're an adventurous couple that likes to get out and explore; so jumping from the cliffs and snorkeling will be good fun; Y's and Dunns will be on a list to check out as well. We're looking for some awesome hiking spots, atv type things that would allow us to see some beautiful countryside, safe but off the beaten path. We want to experience Jamaica; for the people, culture and countryside and not so much for the hotel.

Any ideas or suggestions for a couple that likes to have some excitement and adventure mixed into the daily routine???

I think you should check out the Negril Lighthouse located on the Westend and go to the Blue Hole!

I would scratch Dunns off the list... yeah,Roaring River's Blue Hole is pretty sweet- hiking, caves, etc... the "other" blue hole is really not that adventerous. Want a take a nice walk- try walking from the west end/Lighthouse to the Westender Inn, from there you can eat and catch a ride back. YS is pretty cool- maybe group that day with a trip to the Pelican Bar? day trips maybe Half Moon Beach or Rhodes Hall- both are quiet relaxing private beaches, etc... Head up to Bentley's Crab Shack for a night's meal- make sure to go a day early and give him a heads up so he can prepare. Have fun!

ATV adventures...you can find at Chukka Tours...http://www.chukkacaribbean.com/tour_...ari-2&lang=eng

YS Falls is gorgeous...but you might find Dunn's Falls a bit two far to visit from Negril. If you are interested in visiting two different falls check out Mayfield...it's a beautiful river walk & more interactive.

I agree with Murph's and bnewb's recommendation to scratch Dunn's River Falls.

Dunn's River Falls is located in Ocho Rios which would be a very long road trip from Negril. It can be done, but I would suggest you spend the time exploring around Negril.

Of the three major falls I've been to in Jamaica, Dunn's River is my least favorite. The cruise ships that dock in Ocho Rios send too many tourist to Dunn's River. If you get real lucky and visit on a day when no ships are in port it is okay, but that doesn't happen too often.

Mayfield Falls is a 1/2 day trip from Negril. Y&S Falls can be combined with several other options like Appleton Rum Tour, Black River or Pelican Bar for a very nice day tour from Negril.

    Enjoy,

That's what I'm talking about! Excellent start and will hit both up.
Now that I'm thinking about it I believe it was only Y's due to the location; and I'm good with that. So Y&S combined with either Appleton Rum Tour, Black River or Pelican Bar, got it.
Roaring River's Blue Hole, definitely gonna be a day.

Bentley's Crab Shack, in Negril. I just googled that and felt bad for not finding it before hand, I now feel bad about my searchin skills.

Read up on here and you will find all sorts of activities. And just so you know, it is YS Falls not Y's Falls. YS is beautiful and as recommended you can combine it with Pelican Bar for a great day. I recommend leaving around 8am at the latest so that you can beat the crowd to YS as well as not feel rushed going to Pelican Bar. Once you get to Pelican you might want to chill for a couple of hours. Our last trip we saw the most amazing sunset in our boat coming from Pelican headed back to Black River(where you set off from land). HAVE FUN!

Gotcha booger; one part short hand and another part laziness. I think we might have to make that a whole day of pure satisfacation!

Now you just need a good driver so you can kick back and soak it all in. Several solid ones listed under the transportation link.
