Back in November 2000, I posted what is probably one of the last photos of the old Wharf Club before it was renovated. You can still make out the "The Wharf Club" Wharf Club sign, as well as the "A Disciplined Club" tagline! Thanks for the story!

What a coincidence! I'm reading Banana Shout (autographed by Mark Conklin) for the 3rd time right now. The first time my husband took me to the Wharf Club I wanted to turn around and walk out. It was daytime but very dark inside with a few shady looking characters drinking. We ended up having a few beers and had a great conversation with the shady characters there. Can't judge a book by it's cover I guess.

I wracking my brain trying to remember the owners name. I can see him but I just can't remember.

I spent a lot of time in there. We'd come to Negril for the market and Miss G and Miss Izel would go shop with the jeep and I'd hang out there.

Sittin up on the platform around the pole. John Kennedy's picture right behind the bar......I used to drink the Jamaican martini which was "wine and gin" Red Barrel wine and Gordon's London Gin. (London gin ain't your American style gin) I always figured it was the equivalent of white rum but made from Juniper berries. And after the first couple of sips it starts tasting just fine.
