Hi Shell, It's the smaller cave that can get kinda hot. I have to agree with you regarding the food. We definitely enjoyed it, but the food was not over the top special, (then again I was in the 1st trimester of my pregnancy and most foods weren't that appealing during that time, ha!) The ambiance was quite unique though, and incredibly romantic with all the candles lit, and flower petals strewn everywhere. We stayed at the Caves twice before, and have really enjoyed the privacy of the place. Not sure how the booking of the cave dinners are done for non guests as I don't think they offered that option when we were there, but they sure do book up pretty fast for guests.

Even though October isn't high season the Cave dinners get booked up quickly by guests staying there. Just one heads up on the cave dinner.. It can be uncomfortably warm, especially in the one cave(can't remember if its the smaller or larger one). We did the cave dinner last December while staying there, it was nice to experience and we were able to get the better cave ,but I'd have to say the meal wasn't anything special. But I suppose since you'll be paying for it(and I'll assume its $$) you will be given a choice of menu.

We stayed at Idle Awhile back in Jan. We had room service to watch the Giants playoff game on Sunday. Dined elsewhere until Thursday, we were the only people there. Sat at the edge of the decking. Had delicious, reasonably priced food, oxtail and curried goat. The moon was shining on the water. The jazz drifted through the clear night air from Charela next door. The staff were unobtrusive and never once hurried us. It was a very wonderful evening. We walked to the water and then strolled the short walk to our lovely, large, ceiling fanned balcony in the tree tops. We had a great experience all around at the Rockhouse, Ivans, Kuyaba as well. But there was something so great about dining at "home".

i totally agree about the special "treehouse" dining in effect. Thats one of the reasons we love Idle Awhile and with little ones along we can tuck them in early and still have a romantic dinner "in." Oh, and if you haven't dined next door at Charela yet , you're in for a treat there, too!
    yeah... Go Giants!!
