for the most part, I don't even lurk until right before and after our trips, my wife is always a lurker, year around...but when it is time to go and she has booked the deal, I will use this board for what I think it is for. that is to gather info to make my trip as affordable and enjoyable as possible. It is so much better having a little bearings before I get to a new place.
Our 1st trip I didn't know anything, but from this board, I had a map, exchange rate, tipping advice, bars and stuff near our home, items not to forget, etc...armed with that info, we got the "ONCE U GO, U KNOW" feeling, explored many places, had a great time....no webcasts, maybe met 2 boardies for only seconds., didnt even know who rob was..got back, did a trip report and became a boardie, was hooked, ...
Our 2nd trip, we planned a webcast or two, did my research, read some trip reports, at this point rob was feuding with a few people over rumors and censorship , still didnt get the big deal...went on our trip, went to seastar, met rob, he was busy at the time setting up, went to webcst at rhodes hall, but very hung over and spent most time in pool, and another seastar....lisa not on island on this trip, rob friendly to us, not a big deal....im just here to get the most out of my vacation....
this trip we did a few excusions, pub crawl, all set up on here...met rob at tues webcast at fun holiday along with 1st boardie couple, and then he got lisa and came back...they were going to 3 dives to do cast and offered to take us, no thanks we are just gonna chill with our new friends, see ya on the pub crawl tomorrow, rob or lisa made several phone calls for us and two4today, my other friends, and was helpful with any advice we asked for...
pub crawl best decision made in all trips to negril, set and here and confirmed on robs phone....met many people, saw mnay bars only read about and would never get to due to time...rob and lisa were there to help guide the many people from here to there, to much for lembert to do, narrow roads and all....that trip did have a partridge family vibe to it, hehehe, alot of laughing and singing...hehehe
the seastar party was also a blast with the dancing and the show....
saw rob and lisa a couple of times during our stay while not doing webcasts, they made sure to go out of the way to say hello....
did pelicans bar with friends we made on here, to a place on heard about on here,
So cheers to this board and the boardies who make it what it is, a place to gather info and maybe meet some special people....
and to the people who run it, and if they make some $$$ running a business, congrats to them, there are alot of those who wish it were their gig....
Rob and Lisa did what I expecting anyone to do, they were friendly, helpful with answers, cheerful, and what else can u expect?
