My Negril memory is......I had met someone through Trip Advisor who told me about Catcha, she was going to stay at Bannana Shout right next door but the week before me,dang I'm going to miss hooking up with her & her husband....In the middle of the week I get a message, her son who was married and with a small child had suddenly died and she had to go home????

His name was Joe.So I decided to give Joe a proper Negril sendoff since he had been here and loved it like his mom.I got a big leaf and wrote Joe on it,had a beer with some of Negrils finest vegetable products for me & Joe..... Walked down to the cliffs and threw the leaf into the sea. I took a photo first and sent it to my friend. It's a Negril thing ya know ?

1969. Running a ship out of Kingston. Five days off and one of my crew wants to go visit a cousin in the "West"

No hotels (well, one or two), a beach covered with coconut palms, no electricity.

    Pure relaxation...

I wanted to go fishing,so I hired the local fisherman from Bloody Bay...Forgot his name...He was like 60 years old but had a physique of a man 30 years old from fishing the sea....I asked him how long has he been a fisherman????

He said four motors, after this one dies I retire...He measured his life by the motors he burnt out.We fish with 2 old poles and handlines....He tells me to PULL the line PULL the line I see nothing but pull in the line....I have a nice Alabacore tuna and fish like they did 100 years ago,the waves are splashing into my face,Im drinking Red Stripe at 7am and the salty sea goes into my mouth......He drops me off,I give him one fish and take the other and walk down the beach with my catch like Im Hemmingway.....

I drop off the fish to the chef at Riu Trop and come back for lunch and while the others are fighting at the buffet table I walk up to the chef(tip him) and walk back with my catch as they all look and say"where did he get that"???????

We stayed at Hedo in the mid 80's never left the property.Took the Wild Thing and looked up at the cliffside hotels and were intrigued but too scared to "go over the AI wall".....

Now,,,,,we are on the cliffs looking down at the Wild Thing and they are looking up at us and saying "hey that place looks cool,we should try it sometime"
