OK, we've decided on Citonella. The question is which cotage. We've narrowed it down to Round House or A-Frame. Does anyone have any comments? I'm not sure we could gro wrong with either one. Thanks, Mort

Hi Mort, I think I would go with the Round House. My friends stayed in the Aframe & if I remember correctly, they said the A frame is closer to the LTU pub side & less private.
Thanks for the tip. We thought of that but the reason we weer considering A-Frame was because it looks like there is a private little garden in front which seemed appealing.
& really, I don't think you can go wrong either way!
We stayed in A-Frame and it is sufficient. There is a bed downstairs and a loft upstairs. By upstairs I mean up a straight ladder. No good if you have had a few Red Stripes or rum punches. There is an outdoor shower in A-Frame which we liked. If I recall, bring an extension cord if you plan on using the blow dryer and wanting to use the mirror at the same time. We stayed in Cove house and absolutely loved it.
I like the Cave House best because of the private sea access and it is RIGHT on the sea.
Stayed in both last year-- they both have their pluses, depends on what you're most interested in. Here are my thoughts on how they compare:
Location of cottage- both are private as they are at opposite ends of the property, you can see LTU from parts of the A-Frame yard, but it's not invasive. There is a pointe in front of the A-Frame that is appealing to all guests apparently as they would wander over there to watch the sunset, etc. which was more of a privacy issue for us than being close to LTU. There is no good reason for other guests to come into the Round House yard, but some did anyway when we were there...will complain if it happens again.
Ambience- A-Frame's REAL thatched roof wins some points here, it also has more lush gardens and plants
Sitting areas- hmmm...depends on what you want. A-Frame has a partially covered verandah with chairs and a cloth hammock, whereas Round House's verandah is not at all covered. The A-Frame has a neat back upper deck which is great for bird watching as it's right in the trees. Round House has a shady yard area with some chairs and rope hammock.
Swim platform- Round House wins hands down, the platform over there is much bigger and set a bit back in the cove. Also, the shower down there is sorta enclosed so you could get nekkid if you really wanted, just look out for fishing boats. Also, the A-Frame platform seems more "public" so we saw people from other cottages using it, even though they had their own.
Cottage layout-- I preferred the layout of the Round House because you walk straight out of the bathroom to the outdoor shower, whereas in the A-Frame there is no door to the shower from the bathroom, it is off the back kitchen door. Both have the ladders to the loft, so you can't escape that. The A-Frame, however, has a full double bed downstairs so you can sleep there if climbing the ladder becomes too risky. The Round House has two twin beds downstairs and a queen upstairs.
Noise-- This is a toss-up, you're either gonna risk LTU late night noise on a party night or Sexy Rexy's rapping performance nights...both are loud, it is definitely an "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" situation if you experience either
Bathrooms-- both are fine, about the same
Kitchens-- like the layout of the Round House kitchen a little better and it has an oven if you need one (we never used it). Both have full refrigerators, which is great.
I would stay in either again, but my first choice is Round House. Personal preference. I also like the look of the Cave House, but it does not have a kitchen, which I prefer to have. If you're not wanting to do any cooking, you might look at that one again because it has an awesome covered verandah.
Was paying around $50 a night back in the 90's and not too sure if I would want to pay what they are asking these days.
Citronella isn't expensive. I'd pay double what it costs now and still think it cheap for the ambiance of the place. You can't put a price on pleasure!
Rise early, treat everyday as though it's your last and your last day as it's your first.
