The new $1.4 billion, 1.2 million-square-foot Maynard H. Jackson International Terminal opened May 16, introducing a second front door for the airport along with a new 12-gate Concourse F.

Among airport managers’ biggest concerns is whether travelers will be able to find their way to the new terminal. That’s because international travelers will have to make a huge adjustment in their route to the airport by taking I-75 to get to the international terminal entrance on the east side of the airport.

Domestic travelers will continue to take the normal route to the main terminal off I-85.

The new complex includes an additional entry and exit for the airport, security checkpoints, another U.S. Customs facility, two more parking structures, an extension of the people-mover train and a baggage claim area.

This separate entrance is only for travelers going to the airport by car. Anyone making a flight transfer can access the new international terminal using the same Plane Train tram that takes people to the domestic terminal.

I just wanted to clarify this again as there was some confusion in another thread. This terminal has been opened for quite a few and is a nice improvement.

Luvsdaislands, my relatives who live in the ATL said driving in is no stress, if you have a heads up,lol...

As Mr. Twister said, it really only effects those driving in...

It's been open since May, but I just found out as we were talking yesterday...

I live here in Atlanta and it is has not effected me at all!!!...I am glad Mr. Twister put an update about the train cause when it first open the train was not running customers had to catch a shuttle..The signs going to the airport state international flights take 75 and domestic flights continue on 85!!
