Big up to those who get out and see the world...Would love to read a detailed trip report of your travels in Jam..Have you been to Port Antonio??? You'd love it there I think-IMHO more beautiful and definitely less tourist vibe than Negril...a true paradise as well as the southern area in StThomas, etc..true natural beauty . . Up on the North Coast you cant beat Duncans bay either-small fishing village with the beautiful beach and no tourism...friendly locals-chill vibes.

Hi Suzengrace, not so good at trip reports on J.A but here goes.
Did not book a cab from Montego Bay, just walked out the airport and negotiated.Got to Bar B Barn quite late but all the staff where super friendly. The bar staff knew my name within minutes. Those where my days of drinking,in fact that first trip was my last big drink up.Who can forget Norm in all his glory, last reach i met his cousin who said he is now in Canada
Through our travels we have always been wary of big brash Americans. In Negril we found the opposite, really friendly, enlightened people. it gave us more faith in the people of the U.S.A. In fact we still Skype our friend Mark in New York who was in the room opposite us.The Canadians where great company. The security was great too,Ryon was always looking out for us and the night security was great. Many a night we spent sitting on the wall by the beach, sipping Stripes, listening to the music from Bourbon Beach and chatting to the Guard.Made good friends with Sheldon from Ma's Place who we visit each time we come back.
I must admit sand gravity got hold of us.When we tired of the hustle and bussle we used to go up to Bloody Bay for some peace and watch the A.I Punters walking up and down.
Took a trip up to the West End to check out LTU VILLAS for further visits and to visit Ricks for a real Jamaican experience LOL! Our last trip to the cliffs was a bit of a car crash. My wife insisted we went to Ricks again but with our own Rum. Got pissed too quickly. She walked up a lane to check out a restaurant and came across a old Dreadlocks who wanted to sell her a coin, she had not quite sussed out the Respect thing and he cussed her.She promptly tripped on a pot hole and badly sprained her ankle.Got a cab back to the beach and took her for a fine meal at Kyubi to placate her.
On our last day we took a charter cab to Mayfield Falls, unfortunately because of her ankle she could not make the climb so after a beer and a unmentionable we headed back. The driver wanted to show us some fields but we could not be bothered, too much hassle.Just wanted to head back to the Beach for our last sunset.
Thus we commenced on our last real drunken night. The bar staff where giveing us strong drinks and we met an American guy who had just arrived with his wife who was now in bed.Sitting on the wall listening to Gregory Issacs was pure bliss.we all got drunker and ended up going back to his room and wakeing up his wife who was really pleased to meet us,we partied with them till 5 am.
Leaving day was a blur, after breakfast i got treated by one of the boys in the ally.Souvaneer shopping went out of the window so that was it.
Getting tired now, if you can stand any more of our trip reports let me know.
    Love and Respect.

I still enjoy a day on Bloody Bay...But..A lot different than it was ten years ago..I guess I need to find a new place to hang that offers the tranquility that used to be on Blody Bay.

    Re: Enjoyed Negril

Alright my new friends, ere we go with a bit more argy bargy.Or as the late great Prince Far I say"Wotcha Mon"
As i said before, our second trip was a really cheap deal at Rui Tropical, so good we treated our son who i guess was in his mid thirties, he is single, got his own pad and a wide circle of friends some of who are "SOUND BOYS" who run their own Systems for free.We have always had a strong bond and our love of Reggae goes back decades. In my own case to the mid sixties, used to go to place called The Ska Bar, with agood dose of Blue Beat and Rocksteady.Got to respect the first wave Jamaicans, no youth back then, just fine and dandy folks haveing a high time.
We booked into the Rui and to my wifes despair hot footed it to the new Office of Nature, landed on our feet.Nice people, only a mild hussle, but soon became best friends LOL!
Back to the Rui for buffet dinner, too much food man, all that waste, hope some goes to the needy. We shared a room on the ground floor which worked out ok, my job at the time involved me getting up at 4am.Being my first no alchohol holiday i still woke early, just in time for my son to get back pissed. It was cool though,a little time for medication for the meditation on the beach and coffee and chats with the all night bartender who was hilarious.
Walked the beach to the town and to check our pal Sheldon.Very quiet, this must have been early May, very little hustle, just mainly Hi and Hello.
Whent to the West End a few times, showed him the gory glory of Ricks. Also checked out Blue Cave Castle and Seastar for future stays.
Mostly hung around the resort, get our moneys worth, 3 big meals a day, put on F,ing pounds.Peeps where ok, a lot nore insular than our previous trip.
Went to Bourbon Beach for a night out, sorely dissapointed, must have been the sleezy period in their history.
Took a trip around surrounding country, all in all a good time.our son loved it.
More later about our last trip, if you want it,
    Bless.
    Baloo.
