I would advise you not to use any expensive phones while in Jamaica. You may loose them or have them stolen. Just spend the $40 to get a Digicel or Lime phone.

I second the above - even I got hit and had my simple basic and practically antique Nokia "lifted." Fortunately I convinced Digicel to stop activity on the phone, was able to preserve my credits and got a new sim card but kept my old number, which I have had for donkey years. Cheap phone for local use is the way to go.
