Westjet charges for extra luggage!

Does anyone know if Westjet from Canada will charge for an extra
piece of luggage that is filled with donated items for Jamaica?
Ticket info states we are only allowed one checked baggage and
one carry-on.

My guess is yes, but the charge is minimal. I think either 20 or 50 bucks. We flew Westjet last year and if I remember correctly that's what their charges where, if u check their website it will tell you for sure.

"Important information for guests travelling to or from Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago:

You are permitted two checked pieces; however the second-checked piece fee will apply. No third and fourth bag or overweight items are permitted. You are not permitted any oversized bags, with the exception of one golf bag that must contain golf clubs."

Depending on where you are flying from in Canada, Jamaica is getting to be on the outside edge of the fuel range of Westjet's aircraft. Therefore they have to be much fussier about the weight of cargo they are carrying. You might be able to make arrangements in advance with them to get the fee waived on the second piece of luggage, but if you have more than that to take, donation or not, they may not be able to accommodate you. Its a safety thing.

Westjet. Next Generation 737s have plenty of range. ( about 3500 miles) Only B.C is out. The issue is squeezing $ from. passengers. You could be denied 2nd bag if they have priority revenue cargo also.
