Thread: To Stop or Not to Stop...That is the Question...

Woot Woot for Bigga!!! ALWAYS has to be the first stop for me!! I always used to do a private ride from the airport - then it was never an issue to make Bigga the first stop.

Then I tried JUTA once ... of course they had their "scheduled stop" that they had to make with another establishment ~

I have now drifted toward Clives - often I can convince any other Travel Guests sharing that ride to give Bigga a try & I am ever too happy to treat them to their first sample ... and thus have turned them onto Bigga and his Madd Skills as well. One lady just HAD to link up with him to share some sauce tips and score herself nuff bottles to carry back with her.

for those that arrive on a Sunday ... arrange a visit out to him on another day trip during your stay, or try to link him on your way out back to the airport (provided that travel is not a Sunday!!)

    Go Bigga!!

We usually grab two patties at the airport and two RS and hit the road. This year we stopped at Biggas. Nice guy, but was out of chicken. All he had left was pork and soup.....we passed. But on the way back to MBJ we stopped and got chicken and conch soup. Chicken was great, soup was just OK. We bought some of his jerk sauce...a bit pricey but oh yeah! A bit like Busha Browne's jerk rub...

I would encourage you to stop! Best jerk I had my entire trip. And I ate a lot. My wife and I went from constant chatter to moans and grunts. So tasty.

Bigga makes the best soups on the road. We stopped there many times during our stay, he makes awesome "seapus" soup that'll knock your socks off.

did biggas this past trip, warning --conch soup was so hot! I coudn't drink it till Rhodes Hall. Also did the mega mart thing, another small market for cold beer, biggas for jerk chicken and soup---half moon for rum punch. Dinner lunch, cocktail and relaxing on the road (biggas has a nice bench to sit on behind his stand that looks out to the sea). all done before I got to Negril. And I still had time to swim for a couple of hours and leftovers for later. Back in the day though, you couldn't get me to the sea quick enough and first thing had to be jumping in.

Really enjoy Bigga's! Nice yardie food at a good price. If not Bigga's...tend to hit Pork Pit..in Mobay..or Scotchies, which is not too far from the airport. They are all good, each with its own vibe. We are generally way too hungry to wait till we reach Negril. Enjoy...I'm now counting down till we reach in mid December. Gonna be a nice long visit in the winter, with some really great friends who will be coming down at the same time. I can't wait!!!

THEN i can sit and eat a nice leisurely meal in bathsuit and bare feet, once i'm nicely cooled down and refreshed
Now that sounds wonderful! A nice leisurely meal in a bathsuit and bare feet is a beautiful thing.

We consider the drive across as part of the de-compressing state side to beach side, stops are the wiping the thoughts of home and work and the grit of travel from our minds.

We often re-organize the car at a place called Hi-Lites (in Feb they had a fire but I hope they have re-built) on Queens Drive above the airport, during the winter it is a true drink the colors in moment

One criteria on food is that service is ready, we'll save the 1 hour order to table for later in the week.

The Palms in Hopewell is a favorite fried chicken with sauce, rice and peas, yams at your table in minutes

Sandi's in Sandy Bay sorta a truck stop type place fits the bill well also.

Now that we are re-hydrated and have that 6:00 a.m. airport starbucks taste out of our mouth we play a little

    Cousin Cove

And then it's all a down hill glide into a week of Negril

I agree with Rob, do I want to make it an hour long drive or a not timed adventure
I have won many awards in a lifetime of competition and service. But the highest was offered without plaque or fanfare on a hilltop in post Ivan Jamaica. Unfortunately as of about 5 days ago I've seen no changes and no-rebuilding, but I'm hoping it's still in the works. I loved the view from that place.
