    How much money?

    Question 1:

I am going to Negril for my Jamaican friends wedding. He's marrying an American and for obvious reasons they aren't registered anywhere so, how much money would you give as a gift? I've known him for @10 years and met her last year.

    Question 2:

How much money do you leave for daily housekeeping?

Can I add to this list?

What's your daily budget? For that I mean, what would you budget to being all out vacation mode. Most food and drink you are purchasing as bars or hits etc?

    For your Questions
#1 - Are you going yourself or bringing a friend?
#2 - I stayed for 4 nights last trip and I left a 20 US on the night stand at the end of my stay. I figure 5 bucks a night is more than reasonable, but I dont know.

    Re: How much money?

For a wedding at home I would give between 75-200 depending how close I am to the bride/groom.

Now a wedding in JA is different and would depend on what expenses were covered by the bride/groom and what my out of pocket expenses were. If I had to pay for an unplanned trip that revolved around a wedding then my presence may have to be their gift. If they picked up some of the costs then I would try to offset as much of those costs or more if I could. It really comes down to your financial situation and how the trip and it's cost fits into the big picture. I personally would not expect a gift from anyone that traveled to JA on their own dime to be part of my wedding. Their presence and me being able to share JA with them would be gift enough for me.

I left $5 a day for housekeeping and I think $10 on the last day.

    That's my 2 cents

My daily budget is $100 per day which I never spend and I always bring back but I like to have the cushion for those just in case moments.

I'm going to the wedding with my parents and they are giving a cash gift to him (probably $100 - $150)

I like the $5 per night.

Seems like $100 is the consensus and $5 per day which I like the idea of leaving a "bonus" at the end.

Thats exactly what I was going to suggest. $100 crisp US bill in a beautiful card. And 5$/ day is what I factor for housekeeping

I agree with the $100 dollars for gift.

Also... I am budgeting 100 per day as well. So I guess I am good to go.
