My wife and I of 29+ years leave in 7 days for our 10th trip. I couldn't imagine going anywhere on vacation without her. But I especially couldn't/wouldn't want to go to Negril without her.
I made my first trip without my wife last January. We have been 13 times together over the last 7 years, but she travels more than I do. She goes to conferences a few times a year (in the middle of a trip to Las Vegas now), along with a girls trip to NYC or somewhere else domestic.

So toward the end of last year I half kiddingly told her that I should get to go to Negril in Jan, the week before her girls trip to NYC, and to my surprise she agreed.
Had an internal struggle, should I really do this? She loves Negril, but not as much as I do. She is happy with two separate week long trips a year, but as most on here,
it is an obsession with me.

When the price got right a few weeks out, over the next few days I asked if she was sure she wanted me to do this. She would always say yes, do it.
So I finally did, and it was "I can't believe you are going to Jamaica without me".

Made a too short 4 day trip, I did miss her not being there, but no where near enough to make me wish I had not gone.

Did pretty much what we would have been doing, lay out on beach and float in sea most of the day. I did like eating where and when I wanted, more roadside food and less sitting
in a restaurant for an hour and a half or two hours.

The biggest realization that she was not there was at night. While in Negril she usually goes to bed by 10 or 11. She uses this time to rest up and de-stress from work, while
I like to go out and hang out on the street at night with vendor friends, or hear some music somewhere. When she's ready for bed, I will tell her where I plan to go, and when I
should be back. On the solo trip, it felt strange to go anywhere after dark. Although I believe Negril is as safe as anywhere as long as you keep your senses, it just felt intimidating
to go out at night alone in a foreign country. So I actually stayed closer to the room than I would have if she were there.

I was hoping to make it back for my second solo trip before the end of the year, it would have made four total for the year. Not looking good, but she is ready for the spring trip.

By the way greg/kelly, nice to see some fellow Tennesseeans here. Hope ya'll have a great trip.
