    El Greco Resort, Montego Bay

I posted this on the MoBay forum and got no response so I thought I would try here.

Planning on spending the last night in MoBay after a day in Oracabessa.
Has anyone stayed at the El Greco and if so what was your opinion?

    Thanks and blessings,
    Ed

I can't comment on El Greco, but I can highly recommend "The Polkerris" B&B in Montego Bay. Clean, safe, nicely decorated, great food and wonderful hosts Jeremy and Clarrisa. You can check out photos and reviews on Tripadvisor.com. Everyone we have recommended it to have loved it!

I've stayed there before and it was okay.....ask to see the room first. We saw 2 before we settled on our room. It's a good location on the hip strip. I've also stayed at the Wexford and a Jamaican breakfast is included in the rate.

We have stayed at the El Greco a number of times, Ras. They are suites, not rooms. Very spacious. The view from the resto is great! It's not bad. It needs a sprucing up, but the staff are wonderful! We are probably staying there, too, in Feb. for a couple of nights. Service can be slow - like if you're waiting for housekeeping to bring pots and pans or such. But they are really, really nice. Make sure you negotiate the beach passes (Dr's Cave is my fave beach!). And hope the elevator doesn't go out ... it's a long walk up.

If you aren't too fussy, it's fine. We stayed there our first trip (have the 2 huge bedrooms was a great advantage with kids) and we stay there out of nostalgia now. It's kind of like home. You like it with it's dents and bruises. We call it Faulty Towers. It's very, very secure. The pool is great, too! If anything needs fixing, though, they are on the spot to do it - we had a toilet problem one time and a leaky faucet another, but the fixed it pretty quick! It's a great location!

Always think of staying there the last night, last time I was in there was 1989!

Sunset Beach was great - its the AI with the two yellow towers. It was nice and reasonable for an AI. Toby's is a reasonable place that I have stayed right at the sharp turn from the end of the Hip Strip up to the airport.......

Heard great things about Polkerris, but I emailed them asking about staying one night and I was told they have a 3 night minimum, unless you contact them a month or less prior to see if they have availability for one night for you.

    Sweetness,
We stayed there for our last night in January and felt that it was just ok. The view across the harbor at night was stunning but the food and drinks were uninspiring and even at the "cheap" rate we didn't feel it was worth it or that we would want to go back.

Thanks everyone for the responses. I think we'll give it a try.

    Bless...
