    Day trip Question

My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere..

My husband and I will be making our first trip to Negril in April after many past vacations spent in Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

My husband has wanted to visit the Appleton Rum Factory for years and we just never worked it out going from Ochi so we plan to visit the factory in April for sure (I've heard it's kind of a waste of time, but he has his heart set on it, and making him happy makes me happy, so... we go..). I would also like to go to the Pelican Bar. Would this be a trip you could combine? I know that normally the factory tour is combined with YS Falls/Black River, but if possible I would rather go to the Pelican Bar..

Also, after reading through a lot of the wonderful reviews posted here I would very much be interested in using Chicken for this trip. It may only be my husband and myself but could potentially be 4-6 people.

    Any input is appreciated!

I don't think the Appleton tour was a waste of time at all.

My hubby and I did it a few years ago and we still talk about it, so yes, you should definitely check it out! We had a blast. It's a short tour, maybe 30 minutes but you can sample all the rum you want at the end, so be prepared for that. lol
When we did it we coupled it with YS and Black Safari but you could definitely couple it with the Pelican Bar!
If you hire a driver, you just let them know where you want to go and everything is always "No Problem"
I also can't recommend Chicken enough, he is a great driver and friend and will take good care of you!
If it is just the two of you he would probably just take you in the car but if you get more people you could go by the Magic Bus, the more people you have the better the rate will be but you will have a blast regardless!

*We will be there in April too (end of April / beginning of May)

Fantastic! Thank you!! *I was hoping you would chime in!!*

We will be there April 16-27th! I am so excited!! So far I have talked two of our friends into taking the Jamaica leap, and am working on two others.. My parents will also be there, but they don't seem too interested in taking the day trip.. Sand gravity sounds like more fun.

    Awesome!
The boardie bash is April 26 so we might just get to meet you!

It sounds fun, there is nothing better than taking newbies to Jamaica, it's like going for the first time again. Also, nothing beats a day trip with a good group of friends, that was one of the best days of my life!
You will love the Pelican bar and the tour
Sand gravity is fun but I love day trips just as much, especially experiencing things so unique and beautiful
I mean....it's a bar in the middle of the ocean...how cool is that?

It is probably about a 2-hour drive from Negril, but the Appleton tour is well worth it. We combined it with a trip to the Peter Tosh mausoleum and YS Falls. Long day of sitting in the back seat, but it was fun. You could easily do Appleton and Pelican Bar in a day trip.

We combined our trip to Appleton with stops in Treasure Beach, St. Elizabeth parish to view the Jamaican farmland (toured a working farm) and Lovers Leap attraction which I believe is now closed.

Thanks Everyone!! Appleton and Pelican Bar here we come!!

I'm so glad to hear other opinions on the tour, on other boards all I ever hear is what a waste of time it is..

I'll have to watch for updates on the Boardie Bash!
