    Boardies, helppp

This December I am turning 50. I really, really wanted to be in Negril for my birthday and Christmas however life and work gets in the way. Now my Mother has offered to take me on a trip as a special present although I would have to travel before my birthday and Christmas. It would still be wonderful in early December and very generous of my mom.

I have checked into Nirvana where we usually stay and I cannot get a 2 bdrm cottage during the dates I am available.

So looking for suggestions for a 2 bdrm on the beach. My mother has mobility problems so on ground floor with very few stairs is best. Definitely need lots of shade on the beach. Could do either a cottage or a hotel but would like to have a small kitchenette for making snacks and keeping juice and red stripe, and do not want Mom to have to walk very far to the beach so on the beach side versus road side is preferred.

Also, my husband and I usually travel together so I don't have issues walking along the beach at night to go to a show or a bar but will it be safe enough for my mother and I to walk or would you suggest using the road at night?

Thanking you in advance for any suggestions you can share.

We are staying in the cottages at the Yellow Bird. I will report back in about 10 days.

Lady Jane I'm sorry I know very little about accomodations on the beach. But I really hope you and your mom have a great trip!!!

Lady Jane - have you tried contacting Jean at Beach Club Condos? It may fit all of your needs - beach side (and the rooms are pretty close to the sand!), plenty of shade and full kitchens. I've always found Jean and her staff to be very helpful in finding us the right accommodations for our needs! We will be there in late Nov, early Decemnber ourselves! Good luck and have a wonderful trip - and yay to Mom for such a wonderful present!

I 2nd calling Jean at Negril Beach Cub Condos, she responds usually within a day or so to email also. As you described what you were looking for it sounded an exact match to there in my mind. As far as where to walk, I myself have never encountered trouble on the beach at night, but I wouldn't take my mother on there that couldn't make a good escape if it would become necessary. The road has a lot more eyes watching it at night then the beach does.

The cottages at the Yellow Bird would definetly fit the bill! We've stayed there every year for the past 13 years and just love it. Everything you mentioned it has.
Are you living, or just existing?

Trees would love to hear more. The TA reviews ( very few of them and old) are making me question YB.
