    Half Moon Beach Information Request....

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Half Moon Beach the quiet beach beach managed by a local couple with a small outdoor restaurant and really good snorkeling?

If so how far out from Negril roundabout is it located and are there any signs or markers to look for?

Can we get there by scooter which I'm assuming its not too far.

I recall seeing pics from other boardies trips where you can snorkel/swim over to a small island as well. It sounds like a neat place to go explore.

Its a few miles past the Riu. If you are on your scooter you will see the signs. Its an awesome place to spend the day. We had a great day last year. Wild Thing came and went and we had the place to ourselves. We will go again this year.

Wonderful sounds like a nice place to undwind and do a little beach snorkeling.

There is a restaurant and bar there right?

We actually stayed the night there once a couple years ago. It was a little to "rustic" for my husband.
Snorkling was the best. Food & Drinks were good but we were starving and very thirsty.
Scooters to get there would be a adventure, but doable.
We negotiated a really good rate with our airport driver to drop us off when he had a MoBay fare and pick us up on the way back in to Negril. ($20 rt)

Just grab a route taxi headed for Green Island and have the driver drop you off at the entrance. They will charge and extra 100J each to drive the 100 yards to the beach from the road. When you are done just walk back to the road and hail the next route taxi headed to negril. They have basic bathroom changing facilities. The restaurant may or may not be open. The dogs will bother you to no end, whether you like it or not.

They have a sign that says to ring the bell and they will come get you. Just ring it and walk in and when the big pups run up throw them out a hand and talk nice and all will be good. This place is a nice get away from 7 mile if the hassle is too much. Andrew the owner is a great guy and if he is there make sure you chat him up.

Ive been there twice. Food is good, nice place to chill. The only thing though that on Monday, Tuesday Saturday and Sunday the Wild Thing catamaran cruise anchors for lunch. Depending on your sense of partying....you will either want to go on one of those days or avoid one of those days! I'm looking forward to going again in March.
