Who remembers pre-internet days when you had to faithfully trust your travel agent?

I can remember days when there was only a brochure or a hotel's reputation or perhaps nothing but a hunch about a vacation spot.

When I was a kid, I went to Hawaii and Tahiti and Mexico without knowing a thing about where we were going. It always worked out great!

Is the element of surprise something anyone misses? I know I do! That being said, these days I spent a ridiculous amount of time with my face in the computer clicking around for all things Negril.

Only used a travel agent one time, and they botched that up bad. Since the early 70's we have always just used a guide book. Now we use a guide book and sites like this or Thorntree.

    Regards,
