    Quickie Review-Sunset on the Cliffs

Just got back this week. Happy to answer any questions.

OK, quickie review of Sunset on the Cliffs, Negril, JA. Older property, but the grounds are well maintained. Very good security. Even carried me to my room. Long story....

Friendly bartenders and contrary to what many have posted on TA, the food is NOT overpriced. It is typical hotel prices for Negril. The food was OK, nothing amazing. The curry chicken was large portioned, good quantity of chicken and good rice. Breakfast was included and was good, except they make the typical Negril mistake of overcooking the omelets, at times. Calalloo and bacon omelet was quite nice. Continental breakfast....feh....skip it, small portions, not enough baked goods.

Grounds were kept tended. Pool was clean and clear with no debris seen, ever. It could use a coat of bottom paint, but it was fine. Very big and very deep.

I never felt unsafe or hurried on the property. Upon check-in I was upgraded to an oceanfront king on the second floor with a high vaulted ceiling, cold ac and a clean bathroom. Fresh paint and a lovely balcony with a real door completed the scene. The room was quite large, over 800 sq. ft.

Very good swimming and snorkeling right there. Easy entry and exit compared to some other cliff properties.

So, the watershed question......would I stay here again?

I only paid $34/night, tax and breakfast included. At that price, I would live there.

Currently prices are around $51/night, tax and breakfast included. At that price, I would vacation there, anytime.

Thanks to TracyAnne, Millicent, Melvin and KITWAN. You made the stay fun and easy.

Thanks for this. We briefly visited this property and were curious. Sounds like you had a great stay. Carried to the room by security? I can think of a night or two we could have used that service!

RockRobster...a great review of this little gem on the WestEnd. I'll be returning there for the 7th year come late Jan.-early March for the very reasons & many more you've mentioned. I just love this property & staff..they always make me feel like it's coming home for me & I can't wait to see them all. With just 22 rooms even at high season & fully booked you just don't feel it is...the way the property is layed out...never!! Very Lush grounds & very well kept with Dudley in charge & I love that's it's rooms are so close to the ocean...I wake up & go to sleep to the sound of the waves hitting the cliffs from my 2nd fl room....sweet!! June (owner) is a great host..& in the 20 years I've been going to Negril this is only the 3rd property in the Cliffs I've chosen to stay at. Now it's hurry up & wait for it to.....soon come.

Well, aren't you just what we needed, RR! And I thought you just oggled the Booty Call at the SS Partay on Saturdays! (just pulling your chain, love!). Thanks so much! We are headed to SOTC 26 Jan, and have never been. We couldn't get the SS for the whole time, so we did some research on the web, developed a scientific algorythm - cover you eyes and eenie, meenie, minee, moe! And that was the tiger we landed on! Great to hear from you, and of course all the boardies who have chimed in, that we are in for a good time there!

What a team this is! Such great friends to rely on! If you have just been, RR, I guess our chances of catching you there in Jan are pretty slim. Too bad. Was nice to meet you in the summer and would love to meet up again!

    Rock on, RR!

Prices are still pretty SICK for Christmas week-- 85 USD with all fees paid per night for two, breakfast included .... free cancellation, too.

I think that one is on booking.com .... I just press the info into hotelscombined.com, which checks a bunch of sites at one time and gives you the best rates. Sometimes, there are little mistakes and rooms are way cheaper than you would think -- even the front desk can't believe it, sometimes.

Myself, I won't stay anywhere else if Seastar Inn is available. Most hotels, there is an "unknown" factor, but Seastar Inn is the most consistent.
