I'll go ahead and post a quick review.
#1 - Kevin Hughes - He has been the Managing Director since may. He has worked very hard to make sure that Jamaicans and tourists can both enjoy the beach and the bar. His Philosophy is simple. If you are not purchasing any food or drink. Or haven't paid the cover for the show, you will be asked to leave. There is uniformed security on the the grounds. They chase off anyone trying to sell stuff to patrons of the bar. I never once felt uncomfortable there, and I spent more than enough time there this last trip to get a good feel.
#2 - The Rooms - For the price, I'd say the rooms are a great value. We extended our trip for 2 days and needed a room. So we gave Bourbon a chance. The room we stayed in had 2 beds. A COLD AC and an ocean view. The shower had good water pressure. The water was hot. There was a flat screen TV with cable and a decent selection of channels. There is no fridge in the room unfortunately. If you like to get to bed early, I would not stay there. The music is on blast until about 2AM. We didn't really have a problem with it though, as we were partying too. There was a kind of funky paint smell, so I'd recommend to the staff there, that they put an air freshener in the room.
#3 - Food and Entertainment. - We did the Pirate feast one night. It was pretty cool. The staff dresses up and they bring you different food that you can say yes or no to. Similar to a Brazilian Steak House. Wet and Wild Wednesday is all inclusive, and it's cheap if I remember correctly. The staff had squirt guns. I saw 2 bands, an acoustic artists and a drum show similar to Sea Star. (I think there might have been some drummers who were part of the sea star show actually). The Food as always, was very good overall.
Under this management group I would not hesitate to spend some more nights there, as the prices are cheap and the location is great. It gives you some flexibility if you are on a budget to maybe move to someplace more high end later in the trip.
