    Pimento Wood

I know I asked this question awhile back but it was about 7 years ago. Is there any problem bringing back some pimento wood from JA? I would love to have some as I just bought a smoker last year and I would really like to try smoking some jerk chicken / pork / turkey (you get the point) using pimento wood. Thanks.

I would like answer to that question as well. I did find a place online that you can have the wood shipped to you.

You know that is a great question..My first thought was simple just go here

    https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/det...-united-states

And just assumed it would be almost impossible or cost prohibitive. Heck NY state doesn't even want us to move firewood from place to place within the state.
But then I thought about the wood carvings I brought home with no trouble at all....Hmmmm makes you think.
So I am of little to no help at all except I will be watching for a good response on this question.

Through an old City Pages article I found this information. http://shop.pimentowood.com/main.sc;...0.qscstrfrnt01

This is the place that supplies Pimento wood to Smalley's in Stillwater.

Good question. I just bought a new smoker and want to get some Pimento wood too. I remembered reading on here others had no issues bringing it back. That's on my "to do" list for our next trip.

If you bring back the "treated" pimento wood, you might want to double-bag it. This way, it won't make a mess in your suitcase.

    Re: Pimento Wood

I have brought back pimento wood more than a few times
The experience that I have had is if it is shavings you will be ok, if you bring back pieces bigger than 2 inches in
Diameter, they get taken away from you, I have had it taken back from me a few times, pimento wood is very very hard
And even a using shaver tool is a lot of work, If you chop it into small sticks you should be ok, now just buy it online, it is nice and chipped very small
This is all for entry into Canada , elsewhere not sure
