From Atlanta the rates haven't budged one bit as I check several times a day...every day. That's a surprise as I'm used to getting great airfares being a large airport hub. Seems times have changed.

Daisy is there an airline you want to fly? Also flying on a red eye from the West Coast is the way to go. And how many days? You wanted November and April?

Clarity, the morning flights are better, trust me Ive done it every way possible from California. Jump on that deal if it pops up again because that's about as low as it gets .... God i wish American flew non stop to Montego Bay (or better yet to Negril, lol).

This is the most I have ever paid but with gas prices, we decided to go ahead and get them a couple of months ago, because the travel agent said that's the best price she's seen. We had a last minute addition to our group, in which our friend ordered his ticket just a couple of days ago and the price was exactly the same as ours. So, if you want to try to fly out of STL, look on www.usa3000.com...
Yes, when I did worry free vacations out of st louis they had some great deals..if I can find one like that for a round trip around $300 it would be worth the long drive, otherwise, might as well just go ahead and stick with a flight out of Tulsa.

Me too! The last flight I had was for a red eye going into Atlanta. I sat in the airport waiting for the over six hours for the next flight out to Mobay. Six hours that could have been spent on the beautiful beach of Negril. A one way flight would be a gift from heaven.

Angel - I prefer red eyes because I can sleep during the flight and I don't feel so much like I'm losing an entire day. They used to be cheaper, but now they're more expensive than the morning flights I'm seeing. I guess I'll take what I can get.

Our friend is flying to Negril in November and wants us to join him. We want to go but it all depends on how much we can save up (cutting corners by packing lunch and walking to work every day - keeping the money saved in a little box) and whether or not we can find cheap tickets. ($500 or under) for a one week trip. It seems unrealistic at this point, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up hope. It's nice to entertain the possibility....

The April trip for our 10 year anniversary is definite. I'm just wondering if purchasing a ticket really far in advance would save more money than...say, waiting until 8 weeks before. These are both off peak trips.

Mr Twister - I can't believe prices from Atlanta are high too. I'm hoping the prices start going down and not UP due to extra added on taxes.

How we envy you guys across the pond. We booked in February for next April (14 months ahead) to get 'cheaper flights from the UK. For the two of us over $3,000!!!!.....................sobs quietly into the distance.....
Rise early, treat everyday as though it's your last and your last day as it's your first.

I prefer the Red Eye from San Francisco because I like to get into Negril early. There were flights leaving at 6:00am transiting through Dallas (on American, that's what we fly) but getting us into MoBay at 8:30pm. Before I actually get "home" I have to make a couple of stops to pick up my stuff and I like to unpack and set up as much of the house as possible when I get in. Getting into Negril late just wouldn't work for me.

Most times we fly out of SFO at around 11:00pm, have about a 3-4 hour layover in Miami (we have an Admirals Club "in"...if you have more than say a 2 hour layover it is WORTH buying an "in" for $75 I believe for 2 - to chill in a comfy zone)then off the MoBay. After all the airport stuff we usually arrive at our yard at about 3:00pm - nuff time to unpack some stuff, have a sunset drink with our friends/yard mates and eat some dinner.

Gerry - did you ever take the famous AJ LAX-MBJ 10:00pm red eye or did you miss that? That was the best flight in the world. Did it only a couple of times (still too long a commute to LA for us). You'd get into MoBay at 6:00am and be in Negril by 8:00am. RIP!

Daisy I agree with the red eye flight nice to leave at night and arrive there in the day. I would just keep watching fares for both trips. As for getting one 8 weeks before I've always bought before that. There are sites that will email you when fares drop. Or if you have not decided on a hotel maybe look into a package deal for staying at 1 hotel for the week. Also if you see a fare on travel sites also check the airline directly, fares could be different.

I always automatically go to Kennedy. Maybe I should try Newark sometime. That would mean taking the LIRR to New Jersey Transit to Newark Int'l..but actually cheaper than a taxi to Kennedy.
