The cover of the 1997 guide is of the Royal Palm Reserve. I believe that the plan to harvest peat from the morass for energy was put to rest permanently and the environment was protected as manifested in the Reserve..
Between when the 96 guide went to press and when the 97 guide went to press the Pickled Parrot advertisement dropped mention of the beach location.
And the most interesting milestone I would think for boardies is the first mention of the internet in the guides. It had already become much easier to get a phone call out by 1997 but a new era was just beginning for Negril. URL's were so unfamiliar to the publishers that a typo was not picked up. You all will recognize the domain. Would love to here about this early era from Rob on this thread.
