    Metal detecting on the beach

Does anyone have an experience with metal detecting in Negril? My hubby really likes to do it and it would give him something to do. He is not a beach sitter. What is the etiquette? Do you think anyone would have an issue with it? We're packing now and wondering if we should bring it. Thanks for any help you guys can provide. See ya Saturday!

I don't think it's a problem,If i was down long term I would definetly bring one.I always scoure the beach on my walks especially after a big storm.Have found several coins and a 18 kt. wedding band over the years. My wife thinks I'm nuts and I know I am.

met a guy from canada about 15 years ago who brought one down a couple of times, and he found enough stuff to pay for one of his trips..as far as i go,ive found only a breast implant.it looked like a jelly fish,so i approched it with a stick until i realized what it was.i then brought it back to my cabin and showed it to everyone, and i put it on my pillow every night and slept on it,lol..

Most likely from a Mastectomy bathing suit and not from an implant inside of a breast. Made a nice pillow I bet.

Saw a guy last year all decked out with weird looking equipment searching in the water. Prompted an interesting conversation with another walker about how much stuff you can find - they say after a storm everyone and their uncle are out looking for the gems that wash ashore.

Thanks everyone!- looks like we will bring it for sure. If you see him out there say hi- he is a bit nervous for this trip. I know he will enjoy-but has yet to be convinced.
