The first time I took a group of friends to Nine Mile from Negril, we made it a total Ochi day. Started out at 8 am first stop shoping in Mo Bay, next Nine Mile, next to St. Ann for massages at Fire Water and then into Ochi for late lunch/dinner and then shopping. Yes it was a long day but we were on a luxury bus with AC, music and movies and the scenery of the ride itself and it was a wonderful long, exhausting, beautiful day. Oldest on bus, (me ) youngest 28, and everyone agreed it was a great adventure. Going to Nine Mile for many years and the compound iself has lost some of the charm from when I first began going but I still love it. Back then people weren't so desperate and we would sit for hours and hang out with the Brethren and thier children who hung around and in the compound as well as the Rastas who gave the tours.
I have spoken to others who have even longer history with the place who say from thier first years till now it is somewhat different, but the end result is still the same, you get to go see, feel and touch a historical place that can still have a positive vibe. Whenever I have newbies coming to town who want this as a tour, I travel with them, I still love being there,
Don't allow the jaded opinions of others stop you from enjoying the vibes you wil experience as one who has 'a real love for Bob'. Start early and go enjoy. Best to go and see for yourself, if you get the right driver he can make this a memorable day.
But I am one who loves long Whatever to Wherever Adventures of the country.
