    Re: Sea Splash....

I just got back and the place is well and good. There does need to be some physical improvements and they are happening. I have nothing against Sea Splash today or yesterday but last year it was difficult to relax with the bar operating 20 hours a day with decibles way too high. I have been going there for the last 15 years and to be honest I am happy with the "regress". If I wanted to go to a spring break party I would make sure to choose a different place and time. Sorry Jim. That is what I feel.

And there were many guests occupying the rooms.

I'm happy to know things are going well for mine and my husbands home away from home! We love the lay back feeling we have when we are at Sea Splash. It was fun last year too tho. We can't wait to get back there this April!

Talked to some folks a few days ago that said they had the best meal of their trip at Norma's so we went for breakfast yesterday. It was just like old times, good food, great coffee, service was fine.

Glad to hear they are doing business. Haven't stayed there only partied there on a couple occasions. Here was my impression.

I was a big fan of the property which is VERY cool and on a great part of the beach. now that it's under new ownership/management i could even be lured away from the cliffs for a few nights to actually stay there. I was not a big fan of Jim for a couple reasons (that I am aware of).

thanks for your input i was starting to think i was the only one that hadn't jumped on the bandwagon lol But hey, to each their own.

I spent a good deal of time there last month, and there was a good vibe. There were a few guests during most mornings. Most of the employees are the same but they're on their third manager over the past year including Jim .... Never got a chance to check out the pool but it looked to be in perfect condition.

Also, I do agree the music was a bit too loud, but I am a fuddy duddy .....

We stayed in room 20 for years and years -- which is in the block closest to the office/road. We loved that room. But one year we tried the block nearest the ocean, upstairs room number 6, 7, and 8 - and now those are our favorites. 6 is the suite that squares off with the pool and has the best ocean view. (none of the rooms are clear-out ocean views, but you can get the idea.) From 7 you get a bit of ocean, and with 8 mostly garden view. The flora/fauna is so nice that the garden views are quite lovely too = and the good-sized patios are very nice, especially 2nd floor rooms -- more privacy in the patio department.

I've been in touch with management, and owner Patrick Lawe quite a bit lately in preparation for our trip. I find the new manager, Diana Marley, to be a lovely and capable women with all the right ideas. She is managing and her husband is overseeing the property and the remaining renovations, and things seem to be moving along very well. The changes last year were almost exclusively to the bar/beachfront of the property - but this year they are getting around to the new paint (all done I believe) and recovering of furniture, bedding etcc (I think Jim did some changes to the bedding maybe.) All in all, they appear to be on the right track.

I'm told there are some changes for the better in the kitchen -- they've been doing lots more grilling and fresh ingredients -- and they have a daily luncheon special of the "staff lunch" which is always some great Jamaica dish. Can't wait for our trip.

Second trip for breakfast not so good. Carribian Eggs Benidict was served on a blueberry bagel (yuck) and the poached eggs were hard. the bacon with our eggs and bacon was not done. Probably won't try Norma's again for a few years.
