I think it is easy going low carb in JA because there are so many fish/chicken/veg options. I usually don't eat the festival. boiled banana, dumplings, rice, etc--just because I am used to not eating that kind of thing at home and don't really care for it. Yes that is how most meals come--with all the starchy sides--but I order a la cart from smaller mom n pop places and let them know what I want/don't want. And if you have a fridge in your room, hi lo has a great variety of items you can buy for snacks/meal replacements etc.
