On our last reach we met a very nice couple that live behind the Harley Davidson shop. They say once every 6 months they fly to Miami for the night and that is sufficient to allow them to stay in Negril. Is this possible? Does this sound accurate?

Not that easy-if your not a resident you can stay max 90 days in a 1 year period. you have to go to Mobay or King and file and extension and pay a fee to stay another 90 days (ie 180 days + 6 month)You are not guaranteed an extension-even if you own a home, etc..

I lived there for 10 months ... had to get a visa from the Jamaican consulate before-hand, wasn't difficult but was tedious - required documentation of my purpose. That allowed me to stay on a 'legal alien' status ... Also had to get a Jamaican driver's license while there, since my license was stolen, and there were no Secretary of State offices nearby![]()
Well....there go our retirement plans.![]()
