Lot of beach in front of the Boat Bar in 2008.

    Hi Gail
Thank you for responding, I meant no disrespect. My comment about $$$ was ill-informed and I apologize. (I have a jaded streak in my personality)

I know how much you do for the community and I really do appreciate your initiatives, such as the road clean ups – thank you and respect.

I do understand that the bar was built when the beach in front of Tree House reached out much further, as it would make no sense to intentionally construct it in the water. However, the current circumstances are that the bar sits squarely on the shoreline and, as the tides wash in, it will cause local erosion making the conditions even worse, as you are only too well aware. It is an unfortunate situation.

I`ve seen beach-strolling newcomers to Negril approach the bar along the beach and, instead of cutting through the bar, which can be intimidating to newbies now that there appears to be guards there, they just assume that they have to turn around at that point, which is sad.

You said that the experts have a solution to the problem. That is really good news, but my middle name is Thomas – I`ll believe it when I see it. Until then I`ll just have to keep cutting through the bar.

Wish you all the best and I will drop by in Feb to see those old photos.

The beach comes and the beach goes, Spike, an old bartender at T-Water, told us what is now down this end will be down the other end next year. We started coming down in 87 and that's true. Have seen your property in the water and yards from the water Gail, have pictures of the Lulu up to her knees getting past Foot Prints, I'd show you all but haven't figured out how to post pictures!

Lot of beach in front of the Boat Bar in 2008.
When I first came to Negril in 2001 the beach in front of Boat Bar was at least 2-3 times wider than that (i'm trying to be very conservative in my estimate), and UPhill from the water! Since then I've seen it gone up to the bar, back partway to 2001, like you show for 2008, etc.

It is pretty impressive how the waves lick away the sand, spread it around along the sea edge and push it back ashore again.
