Advice on Good Cheaper places to stay!

We have been to Jamaica 5 times and have always stayed on the beach, 3 times at Coral Seas, 1 at a AI and the last time at NBC, which we were not impressed with. We are not All Inclusive people we like to check everything out. We would like to split 4 days in the cliffs and 4 days on the beach. We are not that familiar with the cliffs and could use other recomendations for the beach. We don't want to spend a fortune on a room as we are not in them that much. Just so they are clean, and you feel fairly safe. We are also looking for something with a frig and maybe a microwave in it. I have found flights that are fairly reasonable and would book the hotel separately. Any help would be appreciated. I am so ready to come back. We missed last year.

Try Donaldson's Inn on the beach. Tropical Breeze is in town and is a fully equipped guest house. Both are very reasonable price wise.

Across the street from the beach is Hidden Paradise. Nice small property, beautifully landscaped, nice swimming pool, good inexpensive breakfast, great location to other eating spots, Shamrock conv. store right next door, fruit and coffee shop right next door, every evening great barrel chicken man right out front. Right across street is their beach bar, Momma Flo's which has good inexpensive food and cool little place to have lunch or dinner or just a few beers. Rooms are nice when you consider the price, a/c cold, nice b-room and shower, great verandahs to hang out on in the evenings and chill. Staff are wonderful, and owner is on property a lot and a great guy as well. We've got great in season pricing by e-mailing property directly, and off season rates that are just ridiculously low. Off season usually has a stay for 7 pay for 6 type of deal if you ask for it.

Cliffs area for us is Seastar Inn, there are a lot of cool little places on the cliffs that we would love to stay at and often plan to but.... we always go back to Seastar because of the wonderful staff and owners. For us when you consider all that Seastar offers, the treatment from the staff and owners, the food, just everything about the place ... it's awesome!

We have stayed at several different places, sometimes spending a pretty good amount on the best rooms on-site at a few of the more pricey locations. About 5 or six years ago we had a pretty good discussion about just how little the amount of time is that we are actually in our rooms while in Negril. So next stay we tried some of the less expensive sites and cheaper rooms and the result was a lot less money on our lodging and more for fun or additional trips and also just as good time in general, maybe even better to us.

To each their own thats what makes it cool.

Hope this helps a little and you have a great trip.

We are staying at Moonlight Villa on the cliffs for a night. Haven't stayed before but looks like a nice cozy place. Wild parrot on the beach looks cute and is in a great location.

Hey Mnlady we stay at the white sands every time we go. The location on the beach is awesome and the price is good. B rooms start at 70 a night high season and D rooms go for 99. I prefer D rooms. The staff is great. Check it out if you have questions feel free to ask.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Has anyone stayed at Sunset on the Cliffs? They are fairly reasonable but was wondering about security.

Thank you for all the great places. We finally decided on 4 nights at White Sands and 4 nights at Sunset on the Cliffs. We are so excited, we missed last year and really looking forward only 22 more days. See you in Negril.

Hi there MNLADY...I will be making my 7th year stay at Sunset on the Ciffs as of 1/30-3/6 this coming new year. It's the third property i've stayed at in my 20 year visits. First years were Drumville Cove...Ivan tore it up it is now privately owned...then Catch a falling Star 2 years in Libra...nothing not to like there, but now i stay for 5 weeks & that would be very expensive. I've always stayed in the cliffs. I love this little boutique place..just 21 rooms..all facing the ocean with a deck on each rm(I perfer 2nd fl.) so close to the ocean I can hit the water with a stone if I wanted. I wake up & go to sleep to the beautiful sound of Mother Ocean...sweet!!! When the resort is full it never seems like it...gorgous sunsets while sitting at the 2nf fl. bar...also pool side by the way! & I like that way. Now I've read everything that's been posted on SSOTC (trip advisor) & sometime you can't please everybody. Yes it's an older resort...but I have NEVER..EVER had a problem with any staff member or a security issue..nothing stolen...nothing but great vibes & I can't wait to get back there to see my friends/staff!!!! June (owner) is a wonderful host. SOOOON COME!!!!
