I came across Negril.com about 2 years ago, and have been a regular visitor to this board. Even though we have had a "love affair" with Jamaica for 23 years, and have been returning every year, except for a couple years, this board has been most informative. I have also enjoyed the entertainment you all have provided too. On our first visit, which was for three weeks, we stayed at the Wyndham Rose Hall & Country Club in the Ironshores area. We booked on as many tours as possible, and for every year for about the first fifteen or so we made sure we seen as much of Jamaica as we could. We have had some really great adventures over the years as we befriended a gentleman that worked at the Wyndham that first year and have always maintained steady contact with him and he has been our "tour guide" for all these years. On our second visit we decided we would stay in Negril.....needless to say we were hooked. We have travelled to other places on this planet, but Jamaica is still our favorite. We started to keep a daily journal around 1995/96 of all the things we have done over the years......it ranges from searching thru most of St. Elizabeth parish for our friends long lost relatives he had not seen in many years to us renting a car and having a loudspeaker system attached to it to announce he was having a party up in the hills at his place. We definitely made alot of miles that day. Most of the experiences (99%) have been very, very good, but of course there is always some that may not be such as the departure of our first trip. I was robbed of every dollar we had, and still had to go thru customs/immag. Back then you had to pay the head tax as you went thru and of course when we said we didn't have any money because we had just been robbed the agent did not believe us so I told him to go thru all our luggage, etc, even told him to check us. He knew we were serious, he stamped our papers & told us to have a good flight. There are probably many boardies that remember what that airport used to be like.....more locals in it than tourists.
Must end this here as I could go on and on. We just know for a fact.....WE LOVE JAMAICA!!!
