I get you Oceanbeachsky-all your doing is bringing up some concerns and some POV from your perspective...You have a right to your opinion -just because others dont agree dont mean you need to get bashed..Have you thought about visiting Port Antonio for a nice change in scenery ???You obviously like the Jam vibe but maybe negril has worn a little thin on you...and then theres alwasy Treasure beach area and of course the N. Coast...I wouldn't write Jam off the map-just take a break from Negril this reach.-or break up your trip half in negril, half somewhere else...

just for the record-this was the 4th murder since the New Year in Westmoreland...As a tourists its something i wouldnt be too worried about-but think its important to know the facts...

Yes suzengrace, everyone has the right to their own opinion...I just question why anyone would post something like that on a board full of Negril/Jamaica/Jamaican Food lovers! And then take offence to the responses...should have been expected, lol! Anyhow...just voicing my OPINION again

In responce to this: "So I don't think the food is to die for not a reason to attack me." You went a little further than "the food is not to die for"!! and then suggested that only people going there to get drunk or stoned would enjoy it!!...remember this: "You eat to survive in Negril and settle for what you get. The places mentioned in one of the post covers some of the better places to eat but by no means "great food". If I want great dining then I go to Saint Martin. I guess if your going there to drink booze and smoke weed than nothing matters..." Ouch!

The facts are important here - so lets simply look at them.

The spread of the flu virus this year is being considered epidemic in the USA. Not so much in Negril or Jamaica. Check the Gleaner and Observer and none of their headlines mention the flu. The fresh sea breeze creates less of a chance of getting ill while in Negril than in the USA at the moment. Yet, a quick visit to the pharmacist can help should you begin to feel a case of the flu coming on. There has been no flu related deaths in Jamaica unlike there has been in the USA.

Water pollution? You have me confused here. While water treatment may not be the most pleasant topic, I think that the entire point of rjonsun's informed thread is that the water treatment in Negril is up to date and equal to standards in many USA cities. He has stated clearly that he has no problem drinking the tap water in Negril.

As for visitors being chopped? The visitor you speak of stabbed his step son while visiting his wife here and then proceeded to bash his head against stones after stabbing him. As a worried visitor, simply not stabbing someone and then proceeding to bash their head against stones can prevent the issue. Here is the article explaining the incident:

Going to Port Antonio or elsewhere can be a change of venue and allow you to see more of the island but in fact it will not change any of the issues which you stated that you are concerned about.

OK I will comment since I will be there for my 20 something trip in a few days...The tree house issue has been off and on for about 15 years...The only thing is the walk aroud the bar in the water...Nothing else has changed with the width so it is about the same as you saw for the last 4 trips or I saw over 20 years ago...Are you saying that you didn't notice this in your past visits...it's a fine place for the regulaars that return yearly. I am impressed by your high standard for food. If you could see my girth you could tell that I know a lot about food...I have eaten some of my best meals in my life in Jamaica...Question...why did it take you four vacations to figure out that the food was not up to your standards or did you only dine at the buffett.....AS for the booze and weed let me let you in for a secret...Most folks that puf on a regular basis and are connected in the US and Canada actually have to lower their standards for it while in Jamaica...by the way I have been to lots of the islands and Rum and Carib beer has been a main stay on all of them plus I have never been on an island where you could not find a puff if you desire..I am just confused that after first hand observations you form an opinion based on a few tourist commetns.

To the OP. If you are going to be negative in your post here, on a forum of Negril junkies, you have to expect some of the comment you received. Next time try saying hi first!!
