It can either be heat exhaustion, sun stroke or dehydration....headache, chills, sweating, sick to stomach...my younger son got quite ill from being out in the sun, playing in the water for too long...it wasn't a long time in comparison to what he normally does at home, but that sun is sooo intense, and he didn't have a hat on....I got him into a cool, dark room immediately. Sipping water and ginger ale....cooled him down with a washcloth on his forehead and back of neck...made him rest and nap....didn't leave his side....I would wake him from time to tome to drink more....it was very scary for me and I'm in the medical field....I kept on watching for other signs. It took about 6 hours....but he was fine....we made sure he did wear a hat no matter what from then on out....but if you are not trained or have no one to be there with you, you should definately seek medical attention immediately.

Jamaicans are very adept at handling sun/heat stroke - it happens enough that most everyone knows what to do. The advice above is excellent - but should this happen to you or a friend, listen to the locals at the bar or resort where it occurs.

Dizziness, gas (both ends), foggy vision, sweats.
Happened 2 years in a row, after arriving at the resort. Long plane ride drinking only coffee, arrived in Mo Bay and had a couple Red Stripes on the ride to Negril. checked in and went to the beach. About 20 minutes on the beach, and symptoms started.
Since that time, I've drunk only water on flight, bus ride and arrival at the resort. No more problems. HYDRATE.

Get out of the sun and into shade or cool area. Have someone bring a nice cold jelly coconut and drink up the coconut wata; nothing better to re-hydrate a person! Rest, lots of water. Alcohol is extremely dehydrating, especially with too much sun.
