This was March of last year.. When me and iriesistah went to this big spring break concert in negril (i believe itwas long bay beach park) with tons of great artists. I was supposed to leave the morning of the concert but i ended up extending my trip for one more day so i could attend and i did not regret it. It was an amazing, memorable night. After hanging out in the crowd for a while somehow Iriesistah and I managed to sneak into the "VIP" type area(for some reason they put the restrooms behind the gate that separated the areas) and we managed to stay back there without getting caught. My flight was at 8AM the morning after the concert, but they saved the best acts for last Sizzla and Beenie Man.. so we stayed until 5AM which was right after beenie man performed.. i got a picture with him and Irie got a picture with sizzla. One of the greatest nights ever.. Left the concert at 5... rushed to my hotel to shower and throw my remaining items into the suitcase and left for the airport.. slept the entire flight home.
And that experience Priceless, Reggae... There is nothing like it and It cannot be subsituted "Mek a Jamaica" the real Mckoy
I have so so many...I dont think I could pinpoint it to just one. But a few rank up there. hanging out with Dennis Brown at Kaisers Cafe EVERY wensday night through the early 90's was cool. I used to get there early before the traffic blocked the west end and go down to the swimming platform for a drink and a smoke Dennis used to come down and sit with me and watch the sunset. Our conversations were memories I will never forget as long as I live. We talked about lots of things life, religion,Ja and our love for reggae and he told me stories of rehearsing with BOB and Jimmy cliff. We truly became "friends for life". I do miss him bad bad RIP dennis I will never forget you. Also in the 90's there was a big big spring break show at samsara. I saw Jimmy Clff,Toots,Chaka Demus & Pliers,Spanner Banner. Show was so packed that college kids were hanging around outside for 100's of yards. Then there was the DE BUSS shows....Coco Tea, Freddie Mc greggor,Half Pint,Barrington Levy were all regulars. Central Park Judy Mowatt,Garnnet Slik...M
I could keep going on forever...so pinpointing it down to 1 great moment is hard for me. MAN I MISS those old venues those were the days..they are gone and just memories now but memories I will cherish in my brain for the rest of my life... I am going to dig out some pics and scan them soon come....
I MISS YOU DENNIS..RIP BREDREN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
