Best Reggae moments in Negril were at Roots Bamboo back in the early seventies. Was lucky to see Bob Marley, Yellowman and Burning Spear there between 74 and 78. Also saw Bob at Sunsplash in MoBay as well as all the other acts there.
I sat next to Jimmy Cliff on an Air Jamaica flight from JFK to Mobay in August 1980 and later connected with him several times during US tours to the East Coast.
Also saw many memorable reggae shows at various places in Negril although can't remember the exacts other than to say they were really good. If I'm not mistaken the Old Yacht Club used to have shows as did the Villas Negril on the little bandstand by the pool.

pure awesomeness johng! Love me some Jimmy
I had the honor of meeting Jimmy Cliff and his band at a little seaside bar called Casino by the Sea on Cape Cod in about 1985ish? Provided him with a little something to hold a meditation before his set. Once in a lifetime moment!
Papa Georgie plays with the band at the Pushcart !
