Credit/Money Cards in Negril

Hi All,

Can someone tell me which form of CC is most accepted in Negril - American Express or VISA - we are trying to decide whether to purchase a money card but want to make sure we're able to use it. We plan to purchase some Travelers Cheques to allow for conversion to Jamaican dollars should we need to.

Other than places like hotels and fancy restaurants, credit cards are pretty much useless in Negril. Cash rules. Bring cash to convert or traveller's cheques or use a debit card to withdraw from the ATM. There are plenty of threads that already exhaustively cover the topic. Do a search for all the info you will need.

When/if you do use a credit card here at the hotels, fancy restaurants and some stores including the larger grocery stores...only Visa is accepted, no American Express.
