$5US a day for maid if service is up to par ($50-$70 hotel per night range). 15% and up for food or bar service as long as service is acceptable at the very least. My first career was hospitality industry for 17 years, so I can spot BS ten miles away. Staff can save the eyerolling, ignore tactics and condescending manner (because Horrors! I don't drink alcohol!) for someone else.
LOL at service personnel who act like snobs. The lesson I've learned is that the very wealthiest among us in my area often dress like they are homeless, so don't judge by appearances. I treated everyone with the same respect that I would like to receive and my tips reflected that. I could get a tip out of the cheapest Charlene who no one else wanted to serve.
